Ordered a sniffie sample and tested its dry down on a piece of cotton. This is a perfect all around "roots" scent, could easily be pitched as vetiver but just as easily pass for fresh roots in general, decaying wood, mulched wood, etc. The scent has a very musty woody quality to it with a sharper mineral-like earthiness. Captures the whole picture, really, between damp roots, decomposing wood, fresh dirt and wet rocks. Absolutely no synthetic cologne quality to it like so many vetiver interpretations out there have, so it's very open to being built upon for different genuinely earthy blends. Really happy with this one!...

This is not as sharp a vetiver as I am looking for. I am actually looking for a sweet yet sharp & crisp fresh vetiver. This conveys the sweetness but does not have as much of the the sharp crisp freshness I am seeking. It is there somewhat but this smells more line cedarwood to me. If you have ever smelled Elizabeth W Vetiver Frag, that is the sharp crisp slight sweet green vetiver I prefer. Not sure but will try other Vetiver from SaveOnScents to see if there is one I like better than this one. Ordered in Extreme Sniffie Sample....

Comparing this to Haitian Vetiver Essential Oil, and I can't believe how close they are! The fragrance is a bit darker, less green and woody, but nonetheless gives the same effect. I was skeptical based on other negative reviews, but I now believe those reviewers must have bad samples of Vetiver EO, or a different chemotype....

Damp bark and dark wood, leaf mold notes and the scent of coriander seed. Not like other vetivers I've tried, but wonderful in perfume blends with its excellent dark wood elements. Reminds me a bit of dark furniture in an old house or antique shop....

Used in CP soap at standard strength and 1oz. PPO. A very true vetiver fragrance, but somewhat mild in the finished soap. Recommend 1.5 oz. PPO or a stronger version. No discoloration, acceleration or other misbehavior in finished soap....

I'm not super familiar with the natural fragrance of vetiver, but I really do enjoy this fragrance when used as a blender. I used this fragrance oil (SOS) in a soy wax candle, and it really added a nice, smokey touch to it. I really like how this fragrances combines with the smell of a burning/charring wick. I'd definitely recommend this fragrance if you're looking to add a natural yet smokey scent to any of your concoctions!...

SOS's Vetiver is a particular take on vetiver that has a place. Other reviews noting the smoky, musty opening are pretty accurate - this one does not have vetiver's classic green sweetgrass/salty thing, but instead the earthy, dirty, nutty thing. I ordered a sample of this to work as a booster for a cedar-based fragrance and it will work perfectly. As a classic perfuming vetiver it may disappoint....

I got a sample of this in ex-con.
Out of the bottle it smells really smokey (like a bonfire) with wet soil, slightly decaying leaves, wood and hints of green. The only time I've smelled vetiver was from a woven mat made from it. It had a slightly sweet, green and earthy smell.
This oil mixed nicely when I used it in my perfume blends.It gave off a nice green earthy note in the dry-down. Vetiver can overpower other notes so a little goes a long way....

A damp smelling earth scent with a quickly fleeting twinge of bitter smoke in the opening and a heavy nut smell at it's base. Drys down into a oak-like quality. Not sweet. A unique well duplicated fragrance....

When I got my sample of vetiver it immediately went onto a scent strip for testing. Out of the bottle it has a very sharp aroma. Underneath the sharp pungent smell, however, there is a nice undertone of earthy wood. Hours later, the harshness wore down slightly. 3 days later it was still going strong. It's definitely a scent that is an acquired taste. I wouldn't use this on its own but it has the potential to be lovely with something to cut the harshness....

Never did like the smell of vetiver, but got this to blend with other fragrances, EX CON does smell like the true E.O. and yes it does smell almost like soiled britches, best used when blended with woodsy, citrusy, F.O.'s...

I purchased the SOS concentration of this Fragrance Oil for my anxiety attacks. This slows down heart irrreg. I never felt so relieved in my entire history of this sickness. I am a reverend and god sent this to me from heaven...

Could just be me, but this is a very bad version of Vetiver. I think that it smells like stale cigarettes. Blindfolded my friend's husband, had him smell an ashtray and then had him smell the Vetiver oil and he said that they both smelled the same. Definately not a fan of this one....

i purchased extreme con. to work with cologne mixtures and i have never smelt Vetiver before and i know of it being used in some colognes but to give you the honest scent and it might be inappropreiate but , its like someone soiled in their pants
SOS Response: Vetivert is a harsh and sharp fragrance. It is to be used sparingly to accent or deepen. Out of the bottle is smells very close the essential oil and does have a sharp, burnt, almost sour tone....

I purchased the SOS concentration of this Fragrance Oil for use in blending a perfume. OOB it smells extremely close to true Vetivert EO. I was very pleased. It blended well in the perfume, which turned out very nice....

This scent kind of reminds of peanuts smells burnt. SOS is great, but they need to go back in lab with this one... other scents I have ordered have been PERRRRFECT!
