The scent isn't exactly like black pepper. It smells spicy in an herbal way. It almost reminds me somewhat of rosemary. Not a bad scent. Would be good in blends I think.

Definately a masculine scent additive, but I don't get pepper or sneeze or spicy from this at all. It actually smells much more like baby powder to me. So much so that I wonder if it got mixed up at the lab....

Eh...not really what I was hoping for. Pink peppercorn key note is better if you are looking for a true peppery scent.

I ordered the sample of this and was pleasantly surprised by the scent. I think it will work nicely in colognes, and possible perfume in small doses. Definitely a must have for any perfumers collection....

I got the black pepper as a SOS strength sample. The smell could be deeper but it does add a little depth when used with the Pink Peppercon I got from SOS. I have used this product in lotion bases, the luxury sea salt mix I purchased from SOS, and their Silkbase. It makes for a great addition to oils with a fruity smell to cut the sweetness....

I purchased SOS to mix with Castor Oil for sore muscles. Once I opened the bottle, my senses picked up an exciting aroma. It sort of smells like Cinnamon, only with a spicy edge. My husband loves the smell as well. It mixes easily with the Castor Oil. I put is in a roller bottle and used it on the sore muscle. It gave immediate relief! I will purchase more....

Just being truthful! It stinks to me! This is the scent in products that I just dislike, I would not use it at all. Just my thoughts!

Though I wouldn't say this scent is exactly like real black pepper, it is a really fantastic masculine scent (think aftershave, but spicier) that blends well in body oils, leaving room for other notes to shine through. That said, it is EXTREMELY powerful, and a small amount goes a VERY long way. I use the Ultra concentrate, and it lingers fantastically. In its pure form, SoS isn't kidding -- it can be sneeze inducing. :)...

I bought the ultra to use in a soap. I think I was expecting it to be a bit more spicy. I like it, but doesnt smell exactly like black pepper. I use it with a blend of other spices and woody scents. I will order again!...

I really don't get "black pepper" from this. It starts out with a distinctively sweet edge, and develops more like a perfume than anything like black pepper. Disappointing. Okay fragrance as these things go, but definitely not a worthy interpretation of actual black pepper oil. Might work well enough in candles or soaps (due to the perfumey quality), but if you're looking for a real black pepper scent, don't bother with this. Extreme version, tested with some carrier oil on my skin for evaluation....

Black pepper will make sweet oils kick. Try with Sandalwood Rose Phantasy oil and I promise you the aroma will attract peoples attention and keep them around you just to smell you.

This smells quite good, and in SOS concentration, it's dramatically strong, so I'd recommend applying with a light hand.
