I'm wondering if I got a bad batch, as this didn't smell like wine at all. I even asked my son, who makes wine, to smell it and he said it smelled like aftershave, not wine. It's a nice masculine fragrance, but not wine. I can find a use for it, but I can't give it a good rating....

I use the SOS conc. in solid perfumes and perfume oils. Smells like the real thing, even with an alcohol undertone. Great for blending.

I found this to be a reasonable approximation of a generic merlot. Bear in mind that wine-based scents are always hindered by personal experience and preference for wines, so it's a very subjective selection. It has the right kind of fruit notes, and I'm using it in several perfume blends right now that I'm field testing with positive reviews (standard concentration)....

I used this fragrance in soy wax votives for niece's wedding (took place at a winery) a few years ago. I am being commissioned by the ladies in the family to make more for them for Christmas this year. It is a very lovely candle scent. I am not sure that I would like it in soap or lotion but it does very well in candles....

This is the closest FO to real wine that I have found so far. I think what throws people off is the lack of that "boozy" smell in this scent. It's pure fruit, but very authentic to merlot. I can see this working very well in an alcohol based perfume (though I have not tried). It's not very "berry"-like. Blend with SOS's Cabernet FO or a straight berry FO if that is what you're looking for. Great find! Purchased in Ultra concentration for use in an oil burner....

From the reviews here it doesn't seem too popular, but I like this one a lot. Personally, I'm a cheap fruity wine drinker myself and therefore prefer something like a blackberry cabernet. This merlot goes light on the fruity smell but gives you the dry, slight sweet aroma of wine. It's not my best seller, but it does have a following....

I bought it based on reviews I've seen here... unfortunately it was a bad choice. The fragrance was bitter almond, with no connection to wine whatsoever. A disappointment.

A nice, fruity wine scent. Just what I was looking for. Used in SOS and body oils. A little stronger would be better, probably will get extra con. next time.

Oh my, this fragrance smells like an old box of raisins with almost a cough syrup smell to it. When the fragrance starts to dissipate it smells better. I would not recommend this fragrance to be used alone....
