So, it's not quite gunpowder... but it is close, and much more pleasant; probably the closest that a scent could come to capturing gunpowder. It held up well in CP soap as well, and smelled the same from the soap as in the bottle....

Extreme Sniffle -- I was looking for a good gun or gunpowder scent to use in geeky candle mixes and this will be my go to mix in! Out of the bottle smells sharp and smokey BUT a unique smokey, smells nothing like SOS's "Firewood"....

Straight from the vial I was hit with a strong musty, damp basement accord. I seem to get that same accord with many of the novelty scents. Was really hoping for something more sulfuric to use as a blender, I make perfumes. After drydown, the in-your-faceness has mellowed significantly, making it a more tolerable scent, almost a teeny bit floral/powdery to my nose, that I could definitely see being used as a blender or even a stand-alone. While it's definitely not "gunpowder" or even remotely sulfuric imo, this may have potential in other scent categories....

I absolutely love this scent! I mix it with a few other things to make a Disney-inspired candle and the first batch has done great! I'm reordering Ultra (tried standard first) to make a bigger batch. If the fragrance is consistent I won't be able to keep my candles in stock!...

I ordered the Ultra a few months ago and it smells like spent shotgun shells. I was very pleased and so we're my customers. I reordered the standard thinking there would be a difference I potency but the scent would be the same. Boy was I wrong. What I got smells more like lemon pledge than gunpowder. I will attempt to get this resolved with customer service because I think they shipped me thw incorrect fragrance... It can't smell completely different from ultra to standard....

Got this in a sniffie. Has a synthetic plastic smell in the background, top note is smokey. I would've like it if it had more of a heavy smoke smell.

This is one of my top bestsellers. I've tried gunpowder from another company but the customers were NOT happy so I came back to this one. It has the dry, powdery note that everyone loves. Slightly pink in hue but does so well in candles!...

Got this in a sniffie, and it smells smokey, campfire-ish, with a touch of diesel fuel. Not the sulphurous scent I expected, but I agree with other posters that it would be useful added to masculine blends. Another scent where buying the sniffie first is a good idea....

Gunpowder to me smelled a lot like Firewood with a metal tinge to it. Not bad at all, I can see myself using it for mixing in candles.

Really nice, masculine scent. I use it without mixing it with anything else. I love it. We make melt and pour soaps and mixed paraffin and soy candles using this and our customers really love the novelty....

(Extreme Concentration) I love this scent as a blender! It adds such a great depth to leather, copal, and musks! I don't shoot guns, so I don't know how gunpowder ought to smell like. However, this scent is great and very masculine....

It's an OK scent, but if I could find a straight sulfer to add to it, would be almost perfect. This isn't even a dupe of unburnt gunpowder (yea, we reload so we have several versions to compare it to). Not bad, would be a good way to add a complex, dark note to a blend but it's not even close to the scent I was looking for....

Smoky and dark. It's not as sulfuric as the real stuff but that's why I like it. It's an excellent mixer that adds depth to any fragrance oil. I will be repurchasing and I'm going to try the Extreme as well. - Purchased Standard concentration for oil-based products....

I mostly get an odd synthetic floral out of this one. Disappointing, because I was definitely looking for the sulfurous gritty metallic scent of gunpowder.

A fun novelty scent that's neither has the bang of sulfurous opening or the warmth of a drydown, yet still works great as a masculine scent! Mildly sweet and spicy with notes of smoke and wood. To me, it lacks that sharp but fleeting sulfurous opening, that makes gunpowder smell so unique. There's a component here that flirts with a sulfur note, but it doesn't seem to be exact enough for my customers to identify the fragrance oil sans a nametag. As a standalone scent I can see it working wonders when paired with maybe leather, black pepper, or another masculine fragrance. It's a good scent nonetheless and probably as close to gunpowder as you can get. Attempted to blend it with a little smoke and fresh cut grass for that "4th of July" firework type smell, but it didn't go over. If this was a hint stronger, or had a more lasting sulpherous opening, It would be amazing! Try using it in blends! Will order again....

I received the sample of this that I ordered today. I must admit, it fell short on smelling like gun powder. Being a person who shoots guns regularly, I didn't think it came close enough. However, I will say that it was a pleasant masculine smell. I think it would still be nice in colognes....

well, i was thinking it was going to be great scent to add. Men laugh and women think it cute, but all said it would not burn it in the hosue car, or rv..... Still I added a line to see where it goes.... For warned you need to have a lot of air when making this, this smells is out of the this world , and i don;t mean in a good way.... smells bad when making BUT when the product is finsihed it smells just like the unused gunpower. Men like it, but hard to sell. I still going to give it 5 stars..... will buy if i have order for it....

I really really love this scent. Perhaps it's not a spot on gunpowder, but the elements are there. It's smokey and deep with a bit of floral. I love mixing it when I need a scent to be a little more masculine. I originally got it as a sniffie and made it into a solid lotion bar for my fiance. He loves it, and the scent is long lasting. Just ordered it in Ultra!...

A well executed novelty scent -- it probably comes about as close to gunpowder as a fragrance oil can come. But it's still missing the *good* part of gunpowder somehow. I was hoping that, like many other SoS creations -- for example, Gasoline, which is fantastic -- Gunpowder would also have enough pleasantness that it could stand on its own as a body oil, or make for interesting blends. But it just sort of clashes with everything. It's getting four stars for the novel attempt, but losing the last star because it's just not a pleasant smell....
