This was bought as a sniffie, when you first initially smell it you smell the dark sweet wood smell that then is accompanied by the subtle rum. It isn't an overpowering fragrance but it definitely is a blender FO for sure. I plan on buying this to mix with others....

Birch and pine tar first on, with oud-like notes, like a dark rotting wood. Dries to a powdery oakmoss with a dark musk base and a faint note of cool perfume. Still, quite nice, but too powdery in end for me,I mix perfumes, so this isn't as useful as a single note scent for me, but it is a warm, leathery rum men's cologne and as such is darn nice. I would definitely recommend this to flesh out a catalog that might be too heavy on the feminine side. Thumbs up. I tried the sniffie....

I bought this in Extreme and I am able to take in the rum scent. I use this in my oils, perfume, and candles....very exotic and dark which is excellent for sexual themes and the scent throw in candles is alluring. Love it....

After reading the other reviews, I think I should have used this as a blender. But, no matter, this scent works just fine by itself. Good job SOS; I make incense

I just had to update my original review from a few days ago to say that this has indeed turned out to be a great blender! I've dabbled with it and added some powdery feminine base notes and additional citrus at the top and WOW. I think it will be a smash hit once I release it! Thanks SOS!...

Received this as a sniffie in XC. My focus is mainly on blending for perfumery (solids, oils, and in perfumer's alcohol). Haven't smelled the inspiring fragrance, but this is a stellar and very high-end smelling scent. Earthy, smoky, faintly leathery to my nose upon initial application . As it dries down, the scent changes, mellowing a bit and then I can detect the plum and milk notes. The "rum" note is more like what I imagine the scent inside of a charred oak barrel used to age rum might be like than the rum itself. You can definitely give this a classy feminine twist with the right florals. Buying a bottle today....

Very strong and dark. I did not get any of the rum notes, but it is an exotic scent that would be great as a blender

I purchased 2 lbs of SOS without even testing it first - I am well aware of the Perfume "Dark Rum" and was over the Moon that SOS had duplicated it. It is Sex in a bottle. I am using it in a multitude of applications. Incense, bath salts, oil for diffusers, lotions, and body butter. All of which came out to perfection. This fragrance is a HUGE hit with my clientele - an amazing job SOS - -you are my Hero!...
