Another reviewer who has never smelled the original, but was curious given that Jicky is recognized as the oldest perfume in the world, at least in the sense that it has never been pulled from the market. This was a totally blind buy for me and it is off the charts beautiful. I pour it into a roller ball vial and dab myself with it for special nights out. I don't know why I treat it like it's rare even though I can buy the SOS by the gallon. For added context, the bottle I am decanting from is the SOS version and I bought it on Tuesday 28 July, 2015. Six years in and even the SOS replica of the oldest perfume in the world holds up. Fantastic. Truly....

it's an interesting ride, but its base winds up smelling strongly of tar to my nose.

Well....sorry...but I am not sure what I think of this one just of yet. I kept smelling it out of the bottle, then on my skin, then my mom's skin. Then my dad wore it, and it smelled sort of good. This is a very different fragrance that I cannot describe. It doesn't smell like maple syrup, but it has another kind of syrupy smell. Doesn't stink, but...I am neutral about it right now. I will apply it on my skin for long time wear to see if my neutral stance changes....

I've never smelled the original Jicky so I can't say whether this is an accurate dupe, but I do love this stuff. Very fresh, lilting and unique. I ordered the extreme concentration and it is very lovely indeed....

Straight out of the bottle this smells quite strong and overpowering. But once on the skin it has a complex elegant fragrance, it has become a favorite of mine. I find it a little strong as a straight oil so am using this in body wash and to make perfumes....
