Our 100% pure and natural frankincense essential oil comes from boswellia carterii or the frankincense tree, native to Somalia. The tree is cut to let the gum-resin flow from the incisions. The resin is allowed to harden over a few days and then the resulting frankincense crystals are harvested. Once sorted by color and purity, the crystals are melted into a gum and sent to Europe for refinement. Frankincense gum is converted into essential oil by hydrodistillation in Spain. Frankincense essential oil is characterised by notes of resin, wood and spice. The main molecules are alpha-pinene (40%-51%), limonene (11-20%) and myrcene (4-7%).
