Purchased as an SOS sniffie.
I wanted something to blend with other oils to make a true ocean, beach scent. Everything I've found is too floral and too sweet, and I wanted it to create an ambience combined with the sound of ocean waves crashing on a beach. And Kelp Nori is the closest thing I've found to a true seaweed smell. But it's SO faint, and fades after a little while, so I think I would have to go with an Ultra or Extreme concentration in order for it to be at all noticeable in a diffuser blend. DEFINITELY adding it to my small collection, though....

Fish flakes, dead on. It's great for blending in a salty, fishy note. SOS concentration.

pungently salty; takes on a definite seaweed lean on the wrist, but is not exactly seaweed, or even particularly "fishy". quite fleeting once on the skin.

I got the sniffy to test this as a perfume note for complexity. First encounters weren't encouragin, but I went ahead and put it on my skin to give it a fair shake. It started with a hideous melted plastic/chemical scent wet out of the bottle and first on, but immediately calmed down to dead-on Nori seawood, complete with salt. Unfortunately, this faded very very quickly, leaving me with no scent whatsoever. It would be a great mixing note for perfumes if it lasted more than ten minutes. Points for great execution, points taken for lack of longevity....

Very well done! Has exactly the salty water vegetation smell I was seeking. I found a great way to use it too! Has a sexy feel. Bought I SNIFFIE.

Second evaluation of Kelp. This somehow smells different from before in that the fishiness isn't as strong or noticeable. The overall tone of the fragrance is "green" but not particularly seaweed-like in my opinion. In-fact and to be brutally honest It smells very similar to freshly-sliced zucchini....

(perfumery, Extreme concentration) Sure enough, that's kelp. Dried kelp on the beach or dried to wrap around some sushi. It's got the salt, the faint fishy umami, and the iodine. Very accurate seaweed scent, one of the best ones I've encountered. That said...very faint. Even in Extreme it takes more of this than I'd like for the scent to be noticeable and it just *disappears* in blends. It's not quite the same, but Fishing Pier does a better job of standing up for itself....

Very faint. Not strong enough to notice in candle or my perfume base. Sampled Extreme Concentration.

I ordered the extreme to use in a beach perfume I was working on. Be careful with this one it's pretty faint out of the bottle but it can become over powering in a blend. This is really great mixed in small amounts with the sea salt in body scrubs....

I need to order a testing sample, got the sniffie and I can't really smell it. I do get a whiff of something kelp-y but it's soooo very faint. I hope to update this review soon with more info.
