Ordered in a sniffie, for use in perfume making. I like this one. It's musty with a bit of gasoline scent. However, to my nose it reads more garage than it does basement. I don't think I'd buy the full size but I'll make use of the sniffie....

it's interesting. I think it smells basementy. It's decent.

This scent is very realistic to what a basement would smell like. It smells cold and a bit mossy maybe like the mildew build up in the corner. I bought SOS and it was already pretty strong right out of the bottle. I paired this scent with a little bit of "dirt" and it gives off the perfect basement smell. I use my fragrance blends for slime and everyone who bought loved it or thought it was very realistic to what was described....

I tested this out in a Sniffie, and Basement was far and away the best of the bunch I tried. It's a cold, bright, almost brassy smell that gives you the basement scent you remember from your grandparent's mid-century home. It's not musty or dirty at all, but pure and interesting and impossible to nail down. Very impressive....

Extreme Sniffle -- opened the bottle and was immediately back in my grandfather's basement work room where he did wood working, painting, and tinkering. Its musty without being overpowering or gross and extremely nostalgic for me. I think it'll be great at an additive for earthy scents....

Ordered a sniffie sample and tested its dry down on a piece of cotton. Personally I mostly get a tea tree scent from this. While I love the smell of tea tree, that particular quality is a bit overwhelming in this fragrance oil. If there are other notes, they are pretty overpowered by the tea tree quality. I am wondering if the "medicinal" or "chemical" quality noted in some other reviews is that tea tree quality I am smelling in my own sample. Many people familiar with tea tree were first introduced to it as a treatment for acne or other oily skin issues. For someone like myself who uses tea tree essential oil everyday in the shower to help with oily skin, the association is too strong to identify this fragrance as anything else. Again I personally love the scent, but many people who use tea tree oil medicinally or for spot treating acne will naturally psychologically perceive it as a "medicinal" or even "chemical" aroma. On the other hand, for anyone unfamiliar with tea tree, this sce...

This can smell like basement if mixed with something to town this scent down. It reminds me more of Pine Sol cleaner.

SOS, candlemaking. Going to be an interesting one in blends I think! I have no idea what a basement smells like, I've never been in one. But to me it smells like I imagine it to be.

I can definitely see what SOS was going for with this oil. I LOVE old basement smell, and this is pretty close. I got a sniffie, and can definitely pick up on the cold, dank feel of a basement. I wish it were a little more earthy as opposed to having a chemical overtone, but it's still pretty close to true. Very nice!...

very true to that particularly moldy dirt floor basement or cellar scent--damp, dank, fungal.

This scent is completely true to its name. My husband and I both smelled a basement! However when my friend and mother smelled it they said it smelled fruity? I don't know how! I used the SOS concentration- which was definitely the way to go, because it is strong. I made soy candles with it, mixing it with a couple of other fragrances....

I got this in extreme strength. I found this to be very cool smelling (as in cold) out of the bottle. You can definitely pick up the "damp and dark" that they're trying to project here. This is a very bitter and dry scent, not sweet in the slightest....

Cold-smelling. I really like this one. Mixed with a tad of burnt rubber and got some really interesting outcomes.

Bought it in extreme concentration. It's my favorite scent ! I can't stop sniffing it! It has a strong menthol scent to it and I wish it smelled more musty like a basement . But still a great smell!...

I have to say that this scent smells EXACTLY like a damp basement with a gentle scent of wood (possibly cedar?). I had my whole family smell it before telling them what it was and they all agreed that it had a weird "comfortable" house scent. As in saying that it smells very familiar to them but they couldn't place it until I told them what it was. I am honestly going to see what interesting scents I can come up with using this as a base. It has a lot of potential as a underlining CREEPY fragrance! :)...

I purchased the Extreme concentration and used it in paraffin wax melts. It is very creepy! Just what I was looking for. It does have a little menthol smell to it but over all it really does have a nice smell....

I got this SOS sniffie and I am so excited about it! It's close to that old, musty basement smell. It has a bit of an antiseptic overtone, but, I really think this will blend perfectly with some other musty scents to make a perfect old musty basement smell. Well, I'm off to purchase a large bottle in the Extreme concentration. Thank you SaveonScents!...

It was a good basement smell, but there was a sharp antiseptic note that gave it almost a medical feel. I'd expect a basement to be a bit more earthy less herbal. Used in moderation with other blends it would be nice. Tested with SOS oil and soy wax in a tart warmer...

It's not really very much like a basement. Strong cedar-y sweetness. My sister said it smelled to her like Coca-Cola, and it really kind of does to me now. It's not bad, though, just not like what it's supposed to be....

I get a definite wet rock and must suggestion, but it goes on skin as mint, yarrow and Evergreen Cedar tree in a gorgeous outside/forest blend with faint spices. Dries completely down to softly spiced musk with green notes. Gorgeous, though not really a basement. I will use this as a base for incense blends. I got the SOS concentration...

I received an SOS sniffie of this. Having grown up in an old home with a damp, dark, earthen-floored basement/crawl space area, I know EXACTLY what SOS was going for with this scent and they've nailed it perfectly. For anyone who has never experienced a damp, dank unfinished basement, I could see how this scent might seem an odd concept - but SOS has really done a great job of capturing that essence. What I really detect in here upon prolonged sniffing is a sort of icy Tea Tree note. Amazing job, SOS. This would be an odd one to stand alone in my opinion (outside of novelty application), but when used in extreme dilution it will work wonderful for perfumery applications with edgier, gothic type scents when you need just the faintest whisper of a dark, damp, sort of morose note....

Not sure what SOS is trying to evoke with this scent. To me it's smells cool and dark, but rather damp. It's not a stinky fragrance, nor is it pleasant. Mixed with a little cedarwood, or other wood FO, I think this would be a great masculine fragrance. As is, I can detect something minty in the opening, and dirty in the drydown. It's not a sweet scent by any stretch of the imagination. An interesting scent worth trying!...
