I haven't tried the Bond no. 9 original, so can't comment on how it compares, but I do love this one. It's a fresh crisp masculine aquatic in the modern sense. It warms as it dries so the rounder notes come up, leather, musk, resins. It's very smooth with nice layers. Smells expensive. Very same-y in a mens cologne way, but still excellent and I rather love it. Dry down reminds me of a 1970s chypre in a unisex way. I make perfumes, lotions and melt and pour soaps for gifts, so this one will definitely be added to my collection. I suspect I'll wear it more than my husband, too. Lovely fresh crisp clean. Loving it. I tried the sniffie....
