In the fragrance business; selection (along
with quality) is everything. That means the more
available options you have (fragrance oils) The more
likely you will make the sale. And let's face
it! You're in business to make sales. We
understand that and that's why we have provided this
information to you, we want you to succeed. When first
deciding what fragrances you should carry, remember that
it may cost you a little more in the beginning (unless
you have a big-enough budget) to get going. It is
more important to have the largest selection possible
than buying all 1lb bottles of oil just to save the most
money. Basically what we are trying to say is that
if you are planning on starting out with 25 scents, you
should get 50! You can't make a sale to a customer
who is looking for "Egyptian Musk" if you only
have "Musk." You WILL lose the sale and
you'll make less money. Selection & Quality is

Packaging Your Oils:
Most perfume body oil re-sellers distribute oils in 1 Dram (Roll-on), 2
Dram, 1/3oz (Roll-on), 1/2oz, and 1oz bottles. Here is a table to illustrate
the equivalent sizes.
- 1lb of oil equals:
16-1oz bottles, 32-1/2oz bottles, 48-1/3oz bottles, 64-1/4oz (2 dram)
bottles, 128-1/8 (1 dram) bottles
- 8oz (1/2 lb) of oil equals:
8-1oz bottles, 16-1/2oz bottles, 24-1/3oz bottles, 32-1/4oz (2 dram)
bottles, 64-1/8oz (1 dram) bottles
- 4oz (1/4 lb) of oil equals:
4-1oz bottles, 8-1/2oz bottles, 12-1/3oz bottles, 16-1/4oz (2 dram)
bottles, 32-1/8oz (1 dram) bottles
- 2oz of oil equals:
2-1oz bottles, 4-1/2oz bottles, 6-1/3oz bottles, 8-1/4oz (2 dram)
bottles, 16-1/8oz (1 dram) bottles
- 1oz of oil equals:
2-1/2oz bottles, 3-1/3oz bottles, 4-1/4oz (2 dram) bottles, 8-1/8oz (1
dram) bottles
Remember to order enough bottles when you place your
fragrance oil order. Use the information above to calculate the
total number of bottles you will need.
How much money can I
make off selling a pound of body oil?
Selling Body Oils In 1 dram bottles:
(1/8oz):
(1) ounce of perfume body oil will fill approximately (8) dram bottles and
there's 16 ounces to one pound of body oil. To figure out the amount of
money that you can make off a pound of body oil using dram bottles selling
at $4.00 each, multiply 8 x 16=128 (bottles) now multiply 128 (bottles) x
$4.00 = $512.00 minus what you paid for the pound of body oil $17.95 =
$494.05 profit. Don't forget to calculate your bottle cost.
Roll-on bottles cost approximately .33 cents each wholesale.
Multiply .33 x 128 bottles and your total bottle cost is $42.24.
Deduct your total bottle cost of $42.24 from your total oil profits of
$494.05. Your NET PROFIT will be $451.81 on an investment of only
$60.19. Also there are many oils that cost less (around
$10-$12 per pound) so your profits will be even larger.
Remember...you can always charge more or less depending on what your
market is willing to pay. Also the strength of the oil has
everything to do with what you can charge for your oils.
Selling Body Oils In 2 dram
Bottles: (1/4oz):
Let's calculate how much money you can make off a of
pound body oil. Using a 2 dram bottle and selling it at $5.00 each. Let's
determine how many bottles you need. We know a 2 dram is equal to ¼ of an
ounce "RIGHT" now multiply 4 x 16 = 64 (bottles), 64 x $5.00 =
$320; minus the $17.95 you paid for the pound of body oil $320.00 - $17.95
= $302.05 profit minus the cost of your bottles.
Selling oils in 1/3oz roll-on
bottles:
1/3 ounce roll-on bottles are probably the most
popular and preferred bottles used in the fragrance business. Simply
because of the ease of use associated with rolling the fragrance directly
onto the skin. One (1) ounce of body oil will fill three 1/3 ounce
Roll-on bottles. Let's calculate the profit you'll make off 1 pound
of body oil using 1/3 ounce roll-on bottles and selling them at $10.00
each. Multiply 3 x 16=48 (bottles), 48 x $10.00=$480.00 minus what you paid
for the pound of body oil - $480.00 - $17.95 = $462.05 profit minus the
cost of your bottles.
Selling oils in 1/2oz
Bottles:
½ ounce of body
oil sells for $15.00. Let's determine how much you can make off a pound of
body oil using ½ ounce bottles. Multiply ½ x 16 = (32 bottles),
Now Multiply $15.00 x 32 = $480.00 minus the $17.95 you paid for the pound
of body oil, this gives you a total profit of $462.05.
Remember to calculate the cost of your bottles.
Selling oils in 1oz
Bottles:
If you sell one (1) ounce of body oil for $20.00
just multiply 16 x $20.00 = $320.00 - $17.95 = $302.05 profit.
Remember to add the cost of your bottles to get your net profit.
So you
see there is a great deal of money to be made in the fragrance/perfume
industry. And you too can start your own personal business with very
