The fragrance is less "incense-y" OOB than I expected, sweet, like a cola and pleasant. I ordered this in the ultra for incense, I think I'd like to try the extreme to get a really strong result.

watery lemon, with a soft cinnamon sweetness. definitely not at all like the pungent frankincense i was hoping for; this is a "friendly" candle-aisle sort of frankincense.

Very nice. Fresh with an alcohol note. Oil is nearly black and very thick and strong. Sniffie for candle making.

This is amazing. Dark, baroque, mysterious, resinous, rich, deep, I could smell it just from the bottle for hours. This is one of my favorite oils from the whole website.

I am changing my review. The new bottle I purchased on the advice of a sales associate IS what I was looking for: a thick, black, resinous frankincense that doubles for cistus/rock rose in most of my perfumes. A wonderful base for darker or oriental scents and a divine stand-alone skin scent for the winter months. It does tend to take over scent mixes, so use sparingly with lighter notes, but this is defnitely a staple for perfumers....

This is a great oil. I use it in incense and have a hard time keeping it on my shelves. (sos concentrate)

It smelled more like an imitation vanilla & buttered rum scent. I bought the Xtreme concentrate.

If you like straight frankincense you will like this. I will have to use it as a blender because the SOS version is pretty strong. Very middle-eastern in my opinion.

I purchased the SOS concentration to use in soy candles. I am very disappointed. It does not smell like frankincense but rather like imitation vanilla. It is so far off that I wonder if my order was incorrectly filled. SOS Response: Yes, this version of Frankincense has a buttery, creamy note to it, the Classic is the spicier version....

Maybe it has changed? It sounds like what I ordered before is now called Frankincense classic. What i have in my cabinet as SOS Frankincense is a dead ringer for Cistus Labdanum. It's a thick, dark, sticky resin, a perfect copy of Rock Rose. Slightly woody, slightly sweet, deeply resinous. It's a fantastic base and strong without shouting in perfumes. If the formula has changes, I'd say try the Frankincense classic then. I sure hope one of them still smells like Cistus Lab, because it's a cheaper more stable oil than the actual essential of Cistus Lab, which is harder to work with. An all time favorite and staple....

I received the sample I ordered of this today. It was very rich and masculine. I think it will blend nicely in colognes or Christmas type candles.

Having no clue what Frankincense is supposed to smell like, I can only say that I love this particular scent. For incense making, I diluted the extreme concentrate 4-1 with DPG and was very pleased with the strength of the resulting fragrance....

Much lighter, thinner, and sharper than Frankincense Classic. Sweet and a bit piney. Smells rather of cola, in fact. A very pleasant scent but I think there's been a formula change; prior orders for Frankincense gave me the darker, richer FC. Try both?...
