We tried this base out in the 1lb size. It had such overwhelming response for our new dry oil spray that when I reordered I got the 5 gallon option!

I tried a body mist from another company it was alcohol based. After adding the scent and adding more scent I could not cover the alcohol scent. Spray let it sit again the alcohol was really over powering. I am new to this store and would like more information as to how this silk base works. I noticed that it has a lot of uses, but my main concern at this time is I want a really good body mist and please help me with the concentration levels.
Thank you...

I love this silk base for adding to lotions and creams. It is perfect in cosmetics. As far as perfume making I have had mixed success and found it makes no difference in whether you add the oil first or last and how you mix it. What does make a huge difference is the fragrance load. Up to 5% you should end up with a nice clear body spray. If it turns cloudy you can always use a frosted or colored bottle. Too much fragrance load and it will not mix. You could also try mixing the fragrance oil with polysorbate first but I think that only dilutes the fragrance. Better to use less in the first place....

I use this for a dry oil spray, and my best customers are men who are more comfortable with a spray application than a roll-on. They uses it as an aftershave lotion, and love it because there is no sting. I have had instances, also where an oil hasn't mixed well, however, that has been with a sub-quality oil. If you purchase your oil from a reputable seller, such as SOS, you won't have as much of a problem with the oil not mixing. Will purchase again....

While I was surprised that this was sent to me with no seal under the cap, I did test it against another supplier whom charges double the price, and it performed exactly the same in my creams and lotions. I am happy to have found my new source for cyclomethicone....

This has been a great addition to my shower gel and body spray line! clients love the silky feel at 25% sos oil with 75% silkbase they say it LASTS in 1/3oz roll on bottles! They think the glass decorative roll on bottles look expensive and are nice to show on their vanities. Some fragrances do turn a bit amber.. so do your testing..I have had repeat sales! Good investment for me!!...

Fantastic as a shine spray for hair especially scented for 'customization' hair care product! - try it for straightening iron shine spray also - fantastic! Use in perfumes as a dry oil application as opposed to perfumers alcohol for those that prefer to not have the alcohol 'scent' and it's received with HUGE compliments and satisfaction. Also, use this in lotions, room sprays, body mists ... I use this in just about everything. Lovely silky non-greasy feel on the skin!...

I agree with the other reviewers - all you need is some silk base to set your creams and lotions completely apart from all of the rest. Silkbase gives all of my products a beautiful smooth texture which is definitely not oily, always moisturising and never tacky. As a perfume carrier for "dry oil spray" it can be a bit of a hit and miss. The biggest reason is that if you are like me and want a strong or intensely fragranced spray - the oils just will not mix. If you are happy blending with 5% or less - you will never use another perfume carrier again....

I wonder if you are adding the silkbase to the oil mixture or the oil to the silkbase? I've used this with great sucess but I did have one oil cloud up on me. Im thinking that you should be sure to add the oil to the silkbase as oppossed to the other way around. Also when your mixing say like three oils add them one at a time and shake between each oil. Hope this helps....

If anyone can give me some advice on how to make this product work -- I would be thrilled. Firstly, I agree it feels great -- but how to mix it? The description shows silk base compatible oils -- some of which I have tried -- but I always end up with a cloudy mix that ends up separating. Secondly, the sos list also request that the user checks the "specification chart" for grades and concentrations -- where is this chart? I even sent an email some time ago to sos and was told to buy the manufacturers grade (which I did) and use 10% concentration (which I did) to still end up with a mix that will simply not blend. I would love to make a dry oil spray but would hate to sell one that required the end user to shake the bottle. Before I forget, I always buy extreme concentrations -- but the sos person did not say this was a problem. What to do? Can anybody share their experience with me?...

When I first tried Silkbase, I thought for sure that it was going to leave my skin feeling oily. This, however, was not the case. It's very delicate, and feels more like a power than a liquid. It leaves my skin feeling very soft and silky. Customers often request that I add a little bit to their lotion for added moisturizer. Makes a great base for body sprays, and I much prefer this to traditional perfumes, that usually contain more alcohol than anything else. I always have silkbase handy. It's one of my favorite products....

Like it! I wanted a perfume base that would not involve alcohol. I also didn't want to spend my time mixing a base when there is a lot more to do. This product is easy to use and feels great on your skin. Just mix with fragrance oil and you are done. In the worls of starting a business and I think this stuff is going to be a hit!...

It sprays a nice amount of cover area and leaves skin silky smooth. There is no need for lotion after spraying Liquid Silkbase. Great alternative for perfume. I used sos - extreme fragrance oil as a sprayable body oil. I love it....

This product does have some problems mixing with certain fragrances. In such a case you have to shake the bottle before applying the perfume or cologne. Does leave a silky smooth feeling. Other then the mixing problem, I have no complaints. My perfumes and colognes are a hot selling item!...
